DIP FORUM – Finding Meaning through Whirling
Join a unique gathering of Dervish in Progress followers and graduates, as well as other experienced whirling practitioners and teachers to explore the profound spiritual and transformative dimensions of dervish whirling.
Through its contemporary and self-expressive approach to whirling meditation, Dervish in Progress (DIP) is attracting participants from diverse backgrouds, spiritual orientations, and motivations. At the DIP Forum, we exchange insights on how whirling influences our lives and supports our journeys. Through discussion, co-creative learning, and shared practice, we expand our understanding of whirling while nurturing body, mind, and soul. Participant contributions are central to the Forum.
The event is for experienced whirlers, facilitators and teachers seeking to deepen their understanding of the practice. Event language: English.

Dervish in Progress - Ziya Azazi
Ziya Azazi was born in Antakya in 1969. After graduating from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), he took the stage as a dancer from 1990 onward, working with various dance groups mainly in Istanbul and Vienna for a decade.
In the 2000s, he increasingly focused on solo stage projects, as he started to focus on whirling – one of the basic dances of Sufism – since 1999.
The Vienna-based artist has interpreted this dance with different solos, duets, and group stage projects. While enriching the traditional dance terminology wth contemporary elements, he has also shared the Dervish in Progress approach teaching in 35 countries around the world with workshops and retreats. As the Dervish in Progress community constantly grows, he has started to offer his Teacher Education Program, and has trained more than 30 instructors so far.
